The contest will run from 2:00-4:15 pm.  The library address is 8900 NE Flintlock Rd, KCMO 64157.
There are 10 finalists that will be telling their story, hoping to win the esteemed title of Best Liar in the Show-Me State for 2017 (politicians are specifically prohibited from entering the contest which is why is says Best Liar instead of Biggest).  The stories are appropriate for anyone that is willing to suspend disbelief and enjoy the tale.
In addition to the contest there are workshops and speaking opportunities all day (see below).  And, since it is at the library, it is all FREE.

Showing and Telling: An Advanced Workshop for Writers and Storytellers with Anthony Clark
Agents and editors frequently advise writers to show and not tell, but every story has “told” parts and “shown” parts. How do you decide which parts to tell in summary form and which to dramatize? Writer and Storyteller Anthony Clark facilitates this 90-minute workshop which focuses on story telling versus story showing. Learn some tips for dramatizing your story, and for deciding which parts to dramatize. Also, learn how story “showing” applies to storytellers.  (Designed for experienced writers and storytellers but beginners are also welcome.)
