Chicken Festival News

Fifteen storytellers came on Friday, January 12 to kick off the 2018 RAPS Chicken Festival in Sedalia, MO by telling stories at 4 elementary schools, 6 Boys and Girls Club sites, and the Pettis County Senior Center. Stories were told to over 3,000 people.

At the Saturday, January 13 activities, thirty-five storytellers joined RAPS for a weekend of stories, music, and an auction. The climax of the weekend was a benefit storytelling concert at the Heckart Performing Arts Center for the Open Door Benevolent Ministries Food Pantry.  Admittance was a canned good or bottle of shampoo per family. The storytellers at the benefit concert were Anthony Clark, Carol Kariotis, Jim Two Crows Wallen, Joyce Carpenter and Ken Wolfe.

Over 70 stories were shared this weekend along with music, dancing and laughter.

Registration for the Chicken Festival is $25 for RAPS members.  RAPS membership dues are $25 for an individual or $35 for a family.

On Friday, January 12, 2018, we have arranged to tell stories at local schools, libraries, senior centers, and Boys and Girls Clubs.

On Saturday, January 13, 2018, RAPS will present a benefit storytelling concert for the Open Door Benevolent Ministry and Food Pantry from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at:

Food Pantry Benefit Storytelling Concert

RAPS is giving a benefit storytelling concert for Open Door Service Center, Benevolent Ministries Food Pantry (111 West 6th Street, Sedalia, Missouri 65301 (660) 827-1613) on Saturday, January 13, 2018 from 7:00-9:00 pm at the Heckart Performing Arts Center, 2010 Tiger Pride Blvd., Sedalia, MO.  The price of entry for this family-friendly entertainment is one canned good or non-perishable food item or a bottle of shampoo per family.

State and regional storytellers will perform as part of the 2018 RAPS Chicken Festival.

Holiday Party

Join us on Thursday December 7 at the Trailside Center, 9901 Holmes, KCMO 64131 for our annual Holiday Party!

RAPS will provide meat, cheese, rolls, drinks, plates, cups and utensils. You need to bring a side dish or dessert and a White Elephant gift. Be there at 7 pm for fun, food and friendly fighting over interesting gifts.
