Chicken Festival News

Fifteen storytellers came on Friday, January 12 to kick off the 2018 RAPS Chicken Festival in Sedalia, MO by telling stories at 4 elementary schools, 6 Boys and Girls Club sites, and the Pettis County Senior Center. Stories were told to over 3,000 people.

At the Saturday, January 13 activities, thirty-five storytellers joined RAPS for a weekend of stories, music, and an auction. The climax of the weekend was a benefit storytelling concert at the Heckart Performing Arts Center for the Open Door Benevolent Ministries Food Pantry.  Admittance was a canned good or bottle of shampoo per family. The storytellers at the benefit concert were Anthony Clark, Carol Kariotis, Jim Two Crows Wallen, Joyce Carpenter and Ken Wolfe.

Over 70 stories were shared this weekend along with music, dancing and laughter.

    There were old friends and new ones too. Everyone had a story to tell. The pies by Janet Manson were fabulous. We covered them with ice cream and drank milk and coffee. I hope we can all meet again next year with good weather and more stories. I missed our friends who could not come. May the circle be unbroken.
